Ahhh, Just another day at work, the same as every other weekday. Sometimes I wonder how my employer can afford me working 32 hours a week, when the majority of the days are drier than the desert.
I work at a travel agency that consists of my boss, her mother, and myself. Thank god for family friends right? It’s minimum wage, but I get quite a few hours, and with how slow the place seems to be every single day, I don’t know how I get a paycheck every week… It’s a fairly simple job, especially since I’m sitting at my desk blogging right now. I hear from everyone how much they wish they had my job, but I don’t know what it is, that makes me hate it so much.
I guess I just feel like I should be going on endless summer adventures, instead of planning adventures for other people in this less than pleasant office. I guess its nice to star out the window and daydream, or stare blankly into the sky outside and pretend the palm trees in my peripheral vision are more than just a wall mural. And on the days where I play Frisbee, I can’t stop thinking of how much I want to leave early, and during the lonely hour between five and six, where I can only imagine what is going on at the local baseball fields.
The only thing I can really say is, “Hey, at least its money!” I just wish I had a job that I could enjoy doing, while actually maintaining a social life… That’s the one problem with work…I can’t stay out too late anymore since I have to actually wake up the next morning. I remember last summer…well…some parts of it at least, back in my…less than perfect days…I’d hang out with friends everyday for hours at a time. Not anymore. Just work, and Tennis, and Frisbee, and the Gym…FUN FUN!
I’m only 17 (as of tomorrow) and I’m almost working a full time job! The parents say it’s good for me, but I’m not sure they know what they’re talking about… But on the lighter side, at least tomorrow is my birthday! But even though the holiday, I am still going to work… After work though, I’ll be sure to go straight home and take advantage of the ping-pong table I’m sure I will be receiving as a gift. How exciting! Finally a gift that will keep me busy for years! Especially the days when its too hot, or too rainy to play traditional tennis.
I was going to purchase a surfboard as a gift for myself, but then I realized that I do work everyday, which hinders my ability to go to the beach. You may be wondering why I don’t just go on Saturday? Well to answer the question, I play tennis every Saturday morning, at 8:30 and don’t finish until anywhere from noon until two in the afternoon. By then the surf is no fun, and I am exhausted. And now you may be wondering, why not on Sunday? Well the answer to that one is short and sweet. Sunday is rest day.
I’m running out of comments on work, so I guess I’ll go do some work now. Perhaps sharpen pencils in hopes to pass the time quicker than just sitting at my desk staring at my desktop background of a man surfing.
Thanks for reading, and I promise it will get exciting along the way!
